In Scottish Borders, the leading cause of death for males in 2022 was Ischaemic heart diseases (13.4% of all male deaths), followed by Lung Cancer (6.6%). In Scotland overall, the leading cause of death for males was also Ischaemic heart diseases (14.0%), followed by Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease (6.8%).
