The latest population projections are based on the estimate of Scotland’s population at 30 June 2016. These projections, based on existing trends and making no allowance for the future impact of government policies and other factors, show the total population of Scotland rising from 5.40 million in 2016 to 5.69 million in 2041. Longer term projections show the population continuing to rise.
