The uncooperative hotel guest in Skye

Minginish District
Carbost
Portree
Isle of Skye
April 8th 1911

The Registrar General,
Edinburgh

Sir,

One of the visitors - a lady - at the Sligichan Hotel refused to give any particulars regarding herself either to the Hotel Proprietor or the Enumerator for the District. She has been a visitor to the Hotel for several years and is well known to the Proprietor by name, but he knows nothing as to her age, occupation, Place of Birth etc. The Enumerator did his best but he could not get any particulars from her. She is a Suffragette. Her name has been entered on Schedule and probable age. Is it necessary to take any further steps in the matter? I enclose the letter handed to Enumerator by Proprietor of Hotel...

I am
your obedient servant

Kenneth Sinclair

The Suffragette

The suffragette was the only hotel guest on the 2-3 April. Her name was Margaret Stewart Tait, but we know nothing more about her.
