The WSPU HQ in Dundee

St. Mary's District
11 Ward Road
Dundee, 18th April 1911

Registrar-General
Edinburgh

Sir,

I beg to forward herewith copy of a communication, dated 7th April, addressed to the Dundee Chief Constable, by whom it was committed to me.

The premises referred to (61 Nethergate) were described as office or shop to the Enumerator. It is the local headquarters of the Women's Social and Political Union, and is included in Enumeration District No. 2.

From the copy report it will be seen that ten women were for several hours of the Census night, in the premises mentioned with the purpose, it is understood, of evading enumeration. They are not believed to have been enumerated elsewhere.

In compliance with the Census Instructions, I have endeavoured to obtain information in regard to these persons. - I called several times; but found the place closed. There had thus been no refusal to fill up a Schedule in the sense of par. 29 of Census Instructions.

I find that full details as to the ten women cannot be procured, and I now beg to transmit a relative Schedule filled up as far as possible.

I have today added the contents of the Schedule to the appropriate Enumeration Book - No 2 of this District: The other Schedules pertaining to that Enumeration District having been despatched a few days ago.

I am
Sir
Your Obedient Servant,
Thos Meek
Registrar
