National Statistics

The United Kingdom Statistics Authority (UKSA) has designated these statistics as National Statistics, in line with the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007 and keeping to the Code of Practice for Official Statistics (available at www.statisticsauthority.gov.uk/assessment/code-of-practice).

This can be broadly interpreted to mean that the statistics:

Once statistics have been designated as National Statistics, the Code of Practice for Official Statistics must continue to be followed.

National Records of Scotland

From 1 April 2011, the General Register Office for Scotland merged with the National Archives of Scotland to become the National Records of Scotland (NRS). The GROS website will remain active until it is replaced by a new website for NRS.
