In the year to mid-2017, the highest net migration gains were in Midlothian (+1.4% on mid-2016 population), East Renfrewshire (+1.0%) and the City of Edinburgh (+1.0%). Four areas had negative net migration (more people leaving than arriving). These areas were Aberdeen City (-0.6% on mid-2016 population), Shetland Islands (-0.6%), Aberdeenshire (-0.3%) and West Dunbartonshire (-0.1%).
