Following a public consultation, the Keeper of the Scottish Register of Tartans recommended updating the fees to cover the costs required to deliver this service.
Scottish Ministers have accepted this recommendation and fees for the Scottish Register of Tartans will increase on 19 January 2026.
This fee change will support the continued development of the Register, ensuring that tartan heritage is preserved for current and future generations in Scotland and around the world.
Any applications received before 19 January will be charged at the current fee rates.
