We’ve published the analysis of responses to our consultation on tartan registration fees.
We received 30 responses which show support for our proposals:
- 28 out of 30 respondents agreed that NRS should recover its costs for delivering the tartans service
- 24 out of 30 agreed that future fees should increase with inflation
- 22 out of 30 agreed that we should discontinue providing framed certificates
Following careful consideration of all responses, the Keeper of the Scottish Register of Tartans has recommended that Scottish Ministers increase the fees to the levels proposed in the consultation.

We will keep customers informed as we progress with implementing the fee changes.
