Public talk
You can listen to Professor Rab Houston’s talk explaining the records used in this exhibition, and the ways in which the criminal justice system attempted to deal with people who committed serious offences but were found to be insane and not responsible for their actions.
The talk took place on August 7, 2019 in Edinburgh, at the National Records of Scotland, New Register House. It was in connection with the Fringe Festival exhibition ‘Prisoners or Patients? Criminal Insanity in Victorian Scotland’.
