These tables provide population estimates for a number of geographies which have been built up using 2011 data zone level small area population estimates. These are currently available for mid-2022 to mid-2024.
Population estimates for mid-2023 and mid-2024 will be revised later in 2026. These revisions will take account of updated estimates of international migration. More information can be found here.
Geographies for which estimates are available include Electoral Wards, International Territorial Levels, Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation, Urban Rural Classification, Scottish Parliamentary Constituencies (2021, operational until 6 May 2026), Scottish Parliamentary Constituencies (2026, operational from 7 May 2026), UK Parliamentary Constituencies and Scottish Island Regions.
The 2011 data zones do not always fit exactly into the boundaries of other geographical areas, so they are allocated on a best-fit basis. An evaluation of non-standard geography population estimates has been carried out to assess special area population estimates built up in this way.
Later in the year, we will publish population estimates for these areas based on 2022 data zones. These will cover mid-2011 to mid-2024.
