Wedding Anniversary Messages

Where the marriage took place in Scotland, you can apply online (below), without a copy of the marriage certificate.

The National Records of Scotland (NRS) will verify the details using our records and pass the information directly to Buckingham Palace.

3 Steps for National Records of Scotland to be able to process your request:

  • The wedding must have taken place in Scotland, and the couple must still be resident in the UK.
  • Notify National Records of Scotland no earlier than 4 weeks before the event.
  • Fill out the Wedding Anniversary Request form below.

Your online request will generate an automatic acknowledgement email to your inbox. If you do not receive it, check your spam filter, contact us on 0131 314 4488 or email Telegrams@nrscotland.gov.uk.

Additional Information

  • Should you wish a personal visit from the Lord-Lieutenant (or his/her representative) on the day of the anniversary, please make direct contact with the Clerk to the Lieutenancy as detailed in the attached list of Lord-Lieutenants (89 KB) (PDF)

Birthday Messages

The Department for Work and Pensions organises birthday messages. Celebrants who are in receipt of a state pension should automatically receive a message from HM The Queen.
