You are allowed to use your camera to photograph documents in the Historical Search Room provided there are no restrictions and certain conditions are met.
Please be aware that if NRS does not own a record collection it is very likely that NRS cannot give permission for you to take your own photographs of documents in that collection. Deposited (loaned) collections where this restriction will apply include those whose collection references begin GD, though NRS does own some collections in that group. We may also exclude items where photography would damage them or otherwise place them at risk. Before taking any photographs you should consult the Search Room Officer who will provide advice.
Scanners are not permitted.
