Our statutory fees are set by the Registrar General for Scotland with the approval of Scottish ministers. Please see below for information about current fees legislation.

Credits purchased for the ScotlandsPeople website can be used for prints in the ScotlandsPeople Centre.

Customers at the ScotlandsPeople Centre can save historic images to their online account using credits. The Our charges page on the ScotlandsPeople website provides details of the charges that apply for each type of record 

Methods of payment

The ScotlandsPeople Centre accepts payment by the following methods:

  • Cash (Pound Sterling only)
  • Debit or credit card (except for American Express, Diners Club, Style or EDC Maestro)
  • Sterling cheque (made payable to the Scottish Government) accompanied by suitable identification
  • Travellers cheque in Sterling (with photo identification)
  • Vouchers
By phone
  • Debit or credit card 
By post
