Key Points
At 2 March 2020:
- The total number of UK Parliament electors in Scotland was 4,079,600. This represents an increase of 91,100 (2.3%) on the number of electors registered at 1 December 2019.
- A total of 15,400 British citizens resident overseas were registered to vote in elections to the UK Parliament, nearly a third higher than the 11,600 recorded at 1 December 2019.
- Around a sixth (17%, or 697,600 people) of UK Parliament electors had registered for postal voting,
- The number of people registered to vote in Scottish Parliament and Local Government elections was 4,227,700. This is an increase of 60,300 (1.4%) on the number registered at 1 December 2019.
- There were 73,100 young people aged 16 or 17 registered to vote at Scottish Parliament and Local Government elections, 1.7% of the total electorate.
- Just over 145,000 EU citizens were registered to vote in Scottish Parliament and local government elections, 3.4% of the total electorate.
