Population by Country of Birth and Nationality, Scotland, July 2017 to June 2018
29 November 2018
Introduction
Estimates of the Scottish population by Country of Birth and Nationality from the Annual Population Survey (APS), with latest figures for the mid-year period from July 2017 to June 2018. Comparable figures for the UK as a whole can be found on the ONS website. These figures differ from the official mid-year population estimates (MYE) published by National Records of Scotland (NRS), as the APS excludes students in halls who do not have a parent resident in the UK and people in most other types of communal establishments (for example hotels, boarding houses, hostels, care homes, prisons, mobile home sites, etc). Whilst the official MYE are available by sex and age, the APS can be used to provide population estimates by additional variables, including country of birth and nationality.
