CACI Ltd developed a cross-referencing index between 1991 Census Data Zones and 2001 Census Data Zones and used this to estimate 1991 populations at the 2001 Data Zone level. A model to estimate populations for the intervening years (1992 – 2000) was then used.
The model used Postal Address data to estimate the changes in households per Data Zone each year. Further information on the model can be obtained from Our Statistics Customer Service team using our contact form.
More information on the data zone geography can be found on the Scottish Government website.
