Off-site records
If the location of a record is ‘off-site’ it means it’s not stored at General Register House.
You’ll need to request the record at least 3 working days prior to your visit to the Historical Search Room.
To request a record:
- Select the link that says ‘Click here to place an advance for this record’.
- This will open the record request form.
- Complete the request form. You can leave the reader’s ticket section blank if you do not have one yet.
- Select the available date of your choosing from the calendar to view the record. Available dates display in green.
- Select ‘Submit’.
After completing the form you’ll receive an email confirming your request. A member of the Historical Search Room team will arrange for the record to be available on the day of your visit.
We cannot accept record requests by email or telephone.
