Selecting the relevant header will sort search results by:
- reference number
- title
- date
The ‘Access status’ column uses a colour code to indicate whether a record is available. A record will be:
- green: open for the public to access in our search rooms
- yellow: the record has additional access conditions
- red: the record is closed to public access
These colours do not indicate where the record is held.
You can open the catalogue entry for that record by selecting the reference number. This will show important information about that record.
Information contained in a catalogue entry
Access status
This indicates whether the record is open or closed
Access conditions
Will explain some of the conditions for accessing the record. For example, if the record has been digitised, it will be available in our Digital Archive Search Room.
Location
This will indicate whether the record is on-site or off-site. You can request access to on-site records on the day of your visit.
If you want to view off-site records, you’ll need to request them at least 3 working days prior to your visit.
If the catalogue entry does not say whether the record is on or off-site, contact us in advance.
Level
Records are available as ‘item’ or as part of a ‘file’.
