An official ‘No Trace Divorce’ letter confirms that no divorce is recorded by two individuals.

To order a ‘ No Trace Divorce’ letter:

Download and complete the SU19 form.
Return the form to us via email or by post. Details on how to do this are included in the form

Prices

We charge a £5.00 search fee for each 5-year bracket from the date of marriage. We hold records from 1984 onwards, so the maximum fee is £45.

Calculating the search fee for a No Trace Divorce letter

The fee increases £5 for each 5-year bracket searched from the date of the marriage.

For example, if a couple married in 1995, the search period would run from 1995 to the present:

Total cost: £35 (covering seven 5 year brackets).

You’ll also need to cover the mailing costs for when we send your certificates to you.

Follow the link in SU19 form.
Select ‘No Trace Divorce’ from the list.
You’ll need to add it to your basket multiple times until the correct total is reached. Each item covers a 5-year bracket.

You can select postage options during checkout.

Once your purchase is complete, you’ll receive an order confirmation number. Make sure to include this number with your completed SU19 form.

Paying by cheque or postal order

Cheques or postal orders must be made out to “Scottish Government”. Send them to us when you complete and send your application form.
