You can order any of the following certificates online:
- birth
- marriage or civil partnership
- divorce or dissolution
- death
You can search for and order these from the Scotland’s People website.
There’s a different process for ordering adoption certificates.
Order by post or email
To place an order by post or email:
- Download and complete the SU3 form.
- Return the form to us via email or by post. Details on how to do this are included in the form.
Prices and payment
The prices per certificate are:
- £15 for the first copy
- £10 for each additional copy
You’ll also need to cover the mailing costs for when we send your certificates to you.
If you’re ordering online, you’ll be able to select postage options then.
If you’re ordering by post or email you can by check or postal order, sent to us by post.
Paying by cheque or postal order
Cheques or postal orders must be made out to “Scottish Government”. Send them to us when you complete and send your application form.
The amount included in the cheque must cover:
- the price of the first certificate
- the price of any additional copies
- postage through Royal Mail
