Information
The methods used to produce household projections in the different countries of the UK are broadly similar with some differences in the details. Updated guidance for users about the coherence and comparability of household projections for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland is available on the Office for National Statistics Website.
Ashley McCormick, a PhD student at the University of Liverpool, researched ways to improve household projections. Further details can be read in his paper Projecting Scotland's Households (38 KB PDF file).
